You might have heard something about 10 months ago about Rutgers and Don Imus… well, I vaguely remember it too.  Anyway, the rematch of the Imus Bowl was last night where the Rutgers Scarlet Ho’s took on the Lady Ho’s from Tennessee in Knoxville.  Of course, it went down to the wire.  And ended with the biggest horseshit call I’ve seen in a quite some time.

Watch the video if you’re interested.  The hometown clock operator stops the clock with 0.2 seconds left, just enough time for a foul to be called on Rutgers sending Nicki Anna-sickie (dumb name, so I won’t bother spelling it right) to the line for two free throws, which she made.

Oh, and I think there’s still 0.2 seconds on the clock because the dumb hick never started it again.

Clock operators and shitty refs aside, yesterday was a terrible day for New Brunswick for another reason… our Governor is a grade-A douchebag.

As some of you know, I’m planning to run for mayor of New Brunswick in 2010.  My first priority is to stop global warming and I feel the best way to do that is by providing different options for transportation so people can get to work/school/home even if:

a) they can’t afford a car
b) they don’t have a car
c) they don’t have a license and/or it’s suspended
d) they don’t like driving/are bad at it
e) they don’t like traffic
f) they can’t find parking
g) they think gas is a ripoff
h) they’re drunk

All of these except d apply to me (I have a license in theory, it’s just not in my wallet).  More importantly, though, many of these conditions apply to mothers and fathers who need to work to support their children.  Being limited to NJTransit’s bus and rail system leaves these people with far fewer employment opportunities.  Also, car accidents kill a ridiculous number of people every damn day.  And, guess what?  I doubt traffic or gas prices will get any better over the next several decades and I have yet to have anyone argue that point.

It’s for these reasons that we need to improve our mass transit systems in New Jersey and that’s why I support two local proposals to improve mobility in and around Middlesex county.

One is building a train station with Transit-oriented development at the old Johnson & Johnson plant in North Brunswick, filling in the longest gap in the Northeast Corridor (between Princeton Jct. and Jersey Ave.).  For more information, go to http://www.OurTownCenter.info

The other is a new rail line that has been very controversial.  It would connect the fastest-growing counties in NJ to the Northeast Corridor, the most trafficked railroad in the country.  This would offer residents of these communities (including three Grammy nominees) direct access to employment centers like New Brunswick, Newark, and NYC.  And, combined with the other proposal, it would bring tens of thousands more people through New Brunswick every day and ease congestion on our maxed-out highway system.  For more on this proposal, go to http://www.SayYesToMOM.com

Unfortunately, though, a lot of pussies in places like South Brunswick, Jamesburg, and Monroe don’t want this rail line (most of which already exists but is unused) to cut through their townships, even though studies have shown it is the least expensive and most effective route.  The other proposals connect to the less-popular North Jersey Coast Line route and do not enter Middlesex County.  They would also necessitate a transfer at Newark to get to NYC.

Well, good ol’ Jon “the toolbag” Corzine put his foot down Sunday while struggling through a town meeting in East Brunswick, saying that the rail line won’t go through Middlesex county.  Way to overstep your bounds while the DOT is still conducting their study, asshole!

BTW, he changed his position the next day because MADD said they would stop supporting him if he continued supporting this ridiculous idea that if you can fight and die in Iraq, you can buy a Smirnoff Ice.  Keep up the good work, Johnny.

So, my boy Edwards dropped out of the race last week after running a solid campaign.  Hopefully, he will be the next Vice President.  But, it’s time for me to pick a new racehorse and I’m proud to say that I’m throwing my support behind Barack Obama in the Democratic primary and Ron Paul in the Republican primary.

Here’s a little context:

The past two Republicans we elected President were wealthy oil barons who both coincidentally invaded one of the most oil-rich nations in the Middle East without provocation and lied to the American people (Read my lips).  Oh, and they were both named George Bush.  I only need one word to concretely define the latter Bush’s approach to issues concerning average American people: Katrina.  Their approach to healthcare takes two: Walter and Reed.

This is the Democrats year if there ever was one.  Plus the Republicans seem like a bunch of old white weirdos, one of whom is named “Mitt.”  So, with only two Democrats left in the race, New Jersey will help decide which of them likely becomes the next POTUS on Super Dooper Tuesday.New Jersey’s legislature did something smart for this election and it moved up New Jersey’s primary from next-to-last to like top 10… but then a shit ton of other states copied off us cuz we the best and you know it.My money’s on Barack Obama.  I’ve learned my lesson from the Super Bowl and will place a wager on my racehorse.Corey Booker, Ted Kennedy, and now, finally, Charlie Kay comes out in support of the next black president of the USA.

Barack is the man.  Because he is a man.  No offense, but a woman candidate actually has less chance than a black guy, especially this one.  And that’s what it’s all about; which horse is going to win the race.  I have principles, but there’s only two people left for the Dems and I’m scared of another 4 years of Republicans… we have to win!  I’m especially afraid if John McCain wins the nomination; people like him.

Hillary cannot help but run on her husband’s less than perfect record.  Plus, are we really going to go with this…

Wtf?  Aren’t there any other families in this country?  Can’t people see we’re just going in circles politically as a country?  Two families have been running the country since I was seven years old.  Let’s give someone else a chance.

I think voting is all we have left to help get out of this crisis.  There’s some other things we can accomplish with it.  We can change the Constitution and eliminate the electoral college or improve the mentally-challenged primary and caucus system.  We can decriminalize bud, just like we did away with the broken system of alcohol prohibition.  We can make America a leader in the world once again.

Anyway,  Obama will lead us to the promise land.  And he might even help decriminalize bud.  Plus it will be like the whole country has an annoying girlfriend for four years if Hillary is tha prez.

(Disclaimer: I’m not a Democrat, but I’m liberal and proud.  After I vote for Barry on Tuesday, I’ll walk straight to the County Courthouse and go back to being a registered independent.  If you are a registered Republican, a vote for Ron Paul is the only honest vote for true conservative principles.  And civil liberties ain’t bad either.)
